Franky & Coen: the two Dutch snack bar owners who earned themselves the nickname The Frying Dutchmen, with their valiant and unrelenting efforts to help out people in war-torn Ukraine.
How? Determination, a can-do attitude, a steadfast belief in doing right by their fellow human beings and, of course, fries – lots of fries. Having decided that sitting idly by in the comfort and safety of their home country was no longer an option, they hooked up their mobile chip shop and drove across the continent, to serve their deep-fried wares to people whose lives had been upended by the war.
What started out as a spirited and spontaneous attempt to do what they could to help out, has since blossomed into a full-blown humanitarian mission. Amsterdam-based film makers Jessica van Tijn and Pamela Sturhoofd followed the pair on their endeavours and captured their unwavering efforts to make a difference – as well as the immense toll the conflict has taken so far.
