In 1958 Maria Callas made her Paris debut in a gala performance in front of the President and the elite of Parisian society.
She sings arias and scenes from “La Forza del destino” and “Il Trovatore” by Verdi, “Norma” by Bellini, “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by Rossini and “Tosca” by Puccini. Tito Gobbi, Albert Lance, Louis Riallan and Jean Paul Hurteau accompany her and the Orchestre et Choeurs du Theatre National de l’Opera de Paris is conducted by Georges Sebastian.
This incredible performances by Maria Callas is beautifully restored from a newly discovered 16mm print and sound recording.
