Woman is an intimate and inspiring portrait of two thousand women from fifty different countries.

It is an ode to the cultural diversity and biodiversity of customs, clothing, religious beliefs. Topics such as motherhood, education, marriage, economic independence, sexuality, menstruation and abortion are discussed. As well as testimonials from very different women, from heads of state and beauty queens to bus drivers. Woman is a film about femininity and the conditions for women, which are far from ideal in many parts of the world.

The position of women is perhaps the best indicator of the health and development of a society. Photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, known for his book ‘Earth from Above’ and his films ‘Home’ and ‘Human’, traveled around the world with his colleague Anastasia Mikova. He talked to women from all walks of life and of all ages.
