In the moving French tragicomedy Sink or Swim, filmmaker Gilles Lellouche (Narco) sketches with the necessary humor an authentic picture of life as it comes.
In the municipal swimming pool, a group of middle-aged men become proficient in the art of synchronized swimming. Their trainer Delphine is a former swimming champion who has been through a lot. The gentlemen themselves also have their own worries. However, together they form a close team and are there for each other. Slowly they get the feeling that they matter again. Despite skeptical reactions from family and friends, they decide to compete as a team for France at the World Championship for synchronized swimming. With a lot of willpower they embark on the adventure, which gives them back the confidence and pleasure in life.
Sink or Swim premiered last year at the Cannes Film Festival. The film has been nominated in France for no fewer than 10 Césars. With 4.3 million visitors it is one of the biggest French film hits of the past year.
