They support each other in pursuing their dreams in a conservative world. When the love between the two girls blossoms, the girlfriends are faced with an almost impossible choice. Do they choose for their happiness or their safety?
Rafiki premiered in Cannes and the release was banned in conservative Kenya. After much action had been taken, people managed to show the film in the cinemas for a week.
