Jean-Louis Trintignant and Anouk Aimée: two icons of French cinema. Over 50 years ago, they made a passionate couple in Claude Lelouch’s classic Un homme et une femme (1966).
The film, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes and was awarded Oscars for Best Screenplay and best Foreign Language Film, has been restored in 4K and is back in theatres. The restored film premiered at Cannes in 2016, marking its 50th anniversary. The restoration was done from the original black and white and color negatives, supervised by Lelouch.
The director’s latest film, Les plus belles années d’une vie, premieres simultaneously. Trintignant and Aimée reprise their roles as Jean Louis and Anne – in their eighties, this time.
